Update 3:48 p.m
A campus wide email announced that the school would be, “ offering a one-time checkout process Friday, April 26, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. that will allow [students] to vacate the premises without fear of immediate arrest.”
A table was set up with staff and admin outside of the student health center to run the check out process.
Molly Kresl said that they would collect the student’s name, email, phone number, student ID, address and ask if the students are willing to clean up after the protest.
“We aren’t able to outright offer amnesty, but we are trying to find a pathway forward that can reduce possible repercussions,” said Kresl.
According to Kresl all students involved with the process are on “interim suspension”. This will last until the occupation ends or May 12, whichever comes first.
Students can go through an appeal process by emailing the office of Student rights and Responsibilities (osrr@humboldt.edu). This process included a zoom meeting to discuss consequences.
Students received emails today alerting them to if they are being placed on interim probation.
Dean of Students Mitch Mitchell, who was present at the check out table today, said the university collected information about protesters from various sources.
“It was a collective of working with UPD, IT services, and other information from students and stuff like that, and witnesses,” said Mitchell.
