Obon Festival honors Japanese culture in Humboldt
The Humboldt Asians & Pacific Islanders In Solidarity (HAPI) hosted the 5th annual Obon Festival on Aug. 16 in Arcata’s Creamery District. The annual festival celebrates Japanese culture with food, taiko drumming and tradition.
This year is Rinban Sakamoto’s last time opening the festival before he retires as a visiting Buddhist priest from San Jose.
