‘Selena: The Series’: Coming to Netflix Dec.4 a new version of the story of the Mexican-American superstar, Selena
The story of a lifetime will be revived again with a new actress, Christian Serratos from the “Walking Dead,” playing the lead role of the icon Selena Quintanilla in Netflix’s new series. The story about the Mexican-American artist is premiering on Dec. 4.
From a movie to a series, the story stays the same, portraying how the success of Selena’s music was possible with the support and work that her family contributed. “Selena: The Series” is about the journey of the singer-songwriter and specific milestone events of her career.
From the trailers Netflix has shared, it can be seen that Selena’s love story is a highlight in this series. Selena’s love story began through her music and the deep bond she shared with her husband, Chris Peréz. In the series, Peréz’s role is played by actor Jesse Posey who is best known for his work in “Stitchers.”
We are able to see that from a young age Selena’s passion was music and how advice from her father, whom she held close to her heart, helped her career skyrocketed. With flashing lights, cumbia blasting and Selena’s voice in the background as each beat drops slowly gave me chills and excitement to unveil this new series.
The story of the Tejana legend is known very well in the Hispanic/Latinx community and this will bring nostalgia to generations of fans who have supported Selena’s career since day one.
