What started as an idea from a friend named J at a local event has grown into a career that has allowed Eduardo Gutierrez, also known as HISpanic! at the Disco, to create community through music.

HISPanic! At the Disco will be playing at the Fuego Latinx Rave on Sept. 4 in Blue Lake. Following that, he will also be playing at Cal Poly Humboldt’s Lumberjack Weekend Block Party on Oct. 10.

Los días 27 y 28 de agosto se ofrecerán consultas jurídicas gratuitas sobre inmigración en el campus de Cal Poly Humboldt. CHIRLA, también conocida como The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, estará en la cuarto 206 de Balabanis House para ofrecer servicios jurídicos gratuitos a estudiantes, personal, profesores y sus familiares directos. Para acceder a estos servicios, es necesario concertar una cita. A fecha de este miércoles por la mañana, todavía quedan citas disponibles para el viernes 28 de agosto.

Para reservar una cita, llama al CPH Dream Center al (707) 826-4587 o acude a su oficina, situada en la sala 206 de Balabanis House.

CHIRLA, also known as The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, will be at Balabanis House, room 206, to offer free legal services to students, staff, faculty and their immediate families. Surrounded by paintings of corazones, Arcata artist Rebeca Cuevas Rosas sat at her easel working on a new piece. Bad Bunny played faintly from a record player in the corner of the room nestled in between boxes of prints and stickers. Her home doubles as an art gallery, each painting hung on the wall symbolizing her deep connection to her birthplace of Mexico.

Cuevas Rosas explained that despite living in a predominantly white area, she is able to connect with her Mexican roots through her art.

“My art stems from who I am,” Cuevas Rosas said. “It comes from my roots and my roots are Mexican.”
