El Leñador’s cleaning playlist

This playlist was composed with the help of El Leñador staff in hopes of providing you with some jams to clean along to.

In Latinx culture, this is how we were woken up on Saturday mornings: with music blasting. We’d be dead asleep when suddenly “Suavemente” by Elvis Crespo would blast through the house, that’s how we knew that it was 8 a.m. and our moms, grandmas, and tias were up and cleaning. We’d wait for our names to get yelled out so that we can join the festivities. Not that we wanted to join, but if we didn’t we would get la chancla

Cleaning at 8 a.m. with a bilingual playlist has become part of our lives because it’s something that we grew up with, and since we are so far from our families, it makes us feel as if we are back home. Who would’ve thought we would be the ones waking up at 8 a.m. doing the cleaning? Not me.
