Fundraiser for Disaster Relief to be Held in Eureka

On Oct. 14 the Humboldt Hearts Organization will be hosting a fundraising event in an effort to provide disaster relief for the recent earthquake in Mexico and the hurricane in Puerto Rico. The fundraiser will be held at the Eureka Labor Temple at 840 E Street, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature free food, music and a raffle. It is an all-age event, with free admittance for kids and cash only admission of $2 for adults.

Press Release:

“Humboldt Hearts Organization is a student/community run grass roots collective. We are a new creation founded in a love and idea of a better more inclusive world. We are trying to address problems we see in the community and throughout the world. We chose Mexico and PR for our first event to focus on because of the lack of official response to the people suffering in these communities and because of the ties HSU and community members have to both Mexico and Puerto Rico. No one should have to use chalk writing to beg for water and food. No one should have their leader come and throw paper towels at them and then accuse them of their situation. Money should never come before people.”
