Free DACA Renewal Clinic to be Held in Eureka on September 28

With the looming loss of the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), an estimated 800,000 recipients throughout the U.S are expected to be impacted.

Although there are efforts throughout the state to pass SB-54, otherwise known as the California Values Act (widely known as a sanctuary state effort), as well as separate Congressional efforts to pass the Dream Act, an unknown number of DACA recipients fear their futures may be at risk in Humboldt County.

In an effort to renew DACA eligibility of young people locally, OneJustice, a legal non-profit from San Francisco, will be running a mobile legal clinic in the city of Eureka on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 5-8:00PM at the Centro del Pueblo office at 900 Hogdson Street.

Recipients facing DACA expiration between Sept. 5 2017 and March 5 2018 are eligible for renewals but their applications must be received by Oct. 5 2017. All eligible recipients should schedule an appointment by calling (415) 534 – 5878. There is also a $495 DACA renewal scholarship available by completing the Mission Asset Fund application online at http://lendingcirclesfordreamers.org/.
